Quantum relic axion detection sensors

Quantum relic axion detection sensors

Description of the granted funding

Quantum technologies hold the promise of yielding unprecedented advantages in computing, sensing, and communication, by operating at the single quantum level. In this project, by using sensitive quantum sensors, we will investigate the possibility of a magneto-electric coupling in the Maxwell's equations describing electromagnetic phenomena, which would lead to the presence of photons in a cavity subjected to an intense magnetic field. This modification, if correct, would have important consequences for our understanding of the large-scale structure of the universe.
