Human impact on sedimentation and water environment in lakes near ski resorts in Finland
Description of the granted funding
The research aims to investigate the impact of human activity on Finnish lakes, emphasizing the influence of the adjacent skiing industry. A combination of high-resolution physical and geochemical analyses of lake sediments is applied to reveal the human impact on lakes. Research results of the Lake Patalahti sediments indicate distinct changes induced by human activity during the last 40 years, which coincides with the construction and operation of the adjacent ski resort.
