Kainate receptors (KARs) as a control parameter in critical brain dynamics
Description of the granted funding
The aim of this project is to provide unprecedented data on the critical brain oscillations and their role in synaptic development. We will study if kainate type glutamate receptor (KAR) modulation can be used as a tool to tune the network towards to or away from critical brain dynamics. Also, we will compare how critical neuronal oscillations supposed to underlie cognitive functions differ in human and rodent cortex. The results will thus pave a way for completely new therapies in brain disorders.
