Sustainable Diets for a Healthier Society and Environment: A Multidimensional Approach (SUST-360)
Description of the granted funding
The new Nordic (NNR2023) and corresponding Finnish (FNR2024) Nutrition Recommendations promote human and planetary well-being. However, the rigorous scientific work behind NNR2023 did not include a comprehensive assessment of their potential contributions to a sustainable society. This crucial information is needed to effectively implement the recommendations and highlight their role in steering society towards sustainable society. The SUST-360 consortium examines how following FNR2024-adhered diets influence health, economy, and the environment in different population groups compared to the current diets. We are using extensive national data on Finnish dietary habits, health, purchasing, and the environmental impacts of food consumption and production. The project provides decision-makers with comprehensive insights and tools to guide society towards sustainability, considering environmental and economic factors while promoting equity in health and well-being for everyone.
