2D Josephson FET Low Power Integrated Circuits

Acronym

JOLI

Description of the granted funding

In the consortium project JOLI we develop for the first time integrated circuits based on superconducting Josephson Field Effect Transistors (JoFETs). Such transistors, operated at cryogenic temperatures, can change the state between superconducting (zero-resistance) and resistive using an electrostatic gate. JoFET has been a much pursued and desired component for many decades as it enables unprecedent energy-efficiency superconducting hardware for high-performance and quantum computing as well as artificial intelligence hardware. Followed by the recent breakthrough in scalable JoFET manufacturing by VTT, JOLI project will design, model, fabricate, and test first of its kind low-noise and ultra-low power superconducting components and scalable integrated circuits in collaboration between VTT and Aalto University.
