Between a rock and hard place in the battery arms race: towards a global governance framework supporting the resilience and sustainability of the battery value chain in the realisation of the green energy transition
Description of the granted funding
This study develops a systematic framework to delineate and analyse the strategies that the public (EU, US and Australia) and private sectors employ to address battery supply chain risks. Furthermore, the study focuses on the emerging transnational standards and identifies best practices with a view to provide recommendations in order to move towards a more resilient and sustainable global value chain for battery energy technology. This project relies on interdisciplinary cooperation between the fields of law and policy and combines positivist, comparative and law-in-context approaches to examine the policy and regulatory frameworks as well as the existing international and transnational private-sector led governance regimes.
