Revolutionizing Robotics: Advancing High-Speed, High-Force Soft Parallel Micromanipulator (HSHFSPM)

Description of the granted funding

Robotic micromanipulation is a crucial technology for a wide range of applications that impact our lives, from the fabrication of precision sensors to biomedical interventions. While traditional rigid micromanipulators have played a vital role in precision manipulation tasks, they often exhibit limitations in adaptability, resilience, and safety. Soft robotics addresses these issues, yet current soft micromanipulators lack speed and force compared to their rigid counterparts. This project aims to develop a high-speed, high-force soft micromanipulator using sheet-based parallel kinematics with electromagnetic actuation. The project will result in soft micromanipulators with unprecedented performances and associated design principles. The simplicity of our robot will make robotic micromanipulators achievable and applicable to non-professionals.
