A Whole-Body Sleep Architecture Model to Redefine Sleep Stages

Description of the granted funding

Sleep is a vital physiological process, compulsory for mental and physical recovery. However, the analytic practices have not evolved, and sleep staging is still restricted to human pattern recognition and 30-second time intervals. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to establish a robust and fully automated whole-body sleep staging model that merges information from physiological systems and the brain´s electrical activity with high temporal resolution. This can enable comprehensive and clinically relevant evaluation and classification of healthy and diseased sleep.
