Glue for vision- tissue adhesive carrier for cell therapies.
Description of the granted funding
Significant progress has been made towards the clinical adoption of cell therapeutics. However, existing cell-delivery methods have shown limited success due to inadequate attachment of injectable cells. Our recent research proposes a groundbreaking solution to address this issue. In this project, we are conducting proof-of-concept studies for a novel method to inject therapeutic cells using a carrier with adhesive properties. We leverage our prior experience with ophthalmic cell therapies for retinal and corneal blindness, but if successful, this technology could enhance the efficacy of other cell transplantations as well. To expedite this process, we will identify potential users and outline subsequent development steps to achieve clinical solutions, market readiness, and patient benefits. This project will be conducted at Tampere University, Finland and project can be followed in web page: https://research.tuni.fi/eye-group/.
