Narrative Agency Reading Group Model: Applications for Libraries, Schools, and Hospitals

Description of the granted funding

The NARG project develops applications of the evidence-based Narrative Agency Reading Group Model for libraries, schools and hospitals. The model is efficient in enhancing the participants' narrative agency - competence to navigate narrative environments in critical and creative ways and to reflect on narratives that harm or benefit them. NARG develops two applications: (1) Creative Narrative Agency Reading Group Model with a developmental and pedagogical emphasis suitable for libraries and schools and (2) Bibliotherapeutic Narrative Agency Reading Group Model suitable for chronically-ill patients and preventive work in hospitals and the third sector. The project will result in enhanced narrative awareness among librarians, teachers, bibliotherapists and other professionals and in strengthened narrative agency, wellbeing and resilience of readers reflecting on their life crises, young people constructing their narrative identities and chronically-ill navigating disrupted life-stories.
