Digital Twin of the Ocean for Offshore Wind Energy (DTO4OWE)
Description of the granted funding
The Digital Twin of the Ocean for Offshore Wind Energy (DTO4OWE) project addresses challenges associated with the growing OWE sector in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. We will use state-of-the-art numerical models to investigate the impacts of offshore wind farms on the marine ecosystem and to address existing knowledge gaps. Additionally, we will explore the use of machine learning methods for downscaling model results and for fusing in situ and remote sensing data with model results to enhance both quality and resolution of the products. We will ensure these tools are fit for purpose by co-designing and co-developing the DTOs together with stakeholders. The developed tools and data will be made available through European platforms for DTOs such as EDITO infra.
