??Unlocking the mysteries of airborne nanoplastics using novel ultrasensitive optical measurement method?

Acronym

PlasticFinder

Description of the granted funding

The main target of the proposed work is a scientific breakthrough in detecting and characterizing airborne nanoplastics for the first time in field conditions. The project will combine one of the world's most sensitive optical detection technologies with state-of-the-art optical enhancement techniques in the IR region accompanied by aerosol enrichment methods to create a new nanoplastic detection platform for real time ultra-sensitive measurements in field conditions. Realtime detection of nanoplastic particles would enable important scientific breakthroughs in identification the sources of nanoplastics, spatial and temporal variation as well as the mitigation methods of ambient nanoplastic particles.
