Human Intention Aware Control Strategies for Autonomous Driving (HUMINAC)

Description of the granted funding

Autonomous cars and human-driven vehicles will need to share the roads for a considerable amount of time. In order to achieve harmony in mixed traffic, autonomous systems should understand human drivers' behaviors. In this project, we propose to develop integrated planning and control strategies that are aware of human intentions. We also target to obtain semantic labels related to human driver characteristics and examine further human drivers' individual behavior, such as willingness to collaborate. A better understanding will enable us to design safe and human-compatible control strategies for autonomous driving.
