Mathematical Modelling of Neurovascular Coupling: Navier-Stokes and Convection-Diffusion Approaches to Hemodynamics and Epileptic Foci (Hemo-Epilepsy)
Description of the granted funding
My research focuses on brain microcirculation, specifically how blood flows in the brain's tiny blood vessels and the hemodynamic response. This is crucial for improving the diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases like epilepsy. By better understanding brain blood flow, this work aims to enhance diagnostic tools and treatments, particularly in personalized medicine for epilepsy, where options are limited. I use advanced imaging and mathematical models, combining high-resolution MRI data with equations simulating blood flow and oxygen transport. Analyzing these models helps uncover how brain circulation responds to various conditions and how disruptions may lead to neurological issues. This research, conducted at TAU, collaborates with experts in applied mathematics, brain imaging, blood flow modelling, and neuroscience.
