CAll; Cytokines Allergy and Cancer
Description of the granted funding
The study investigates soluble inflammatory mediators, cytokines in initiation and maintenance of inflammation. Precise understanding of how cytokines work, yields in better diagnostics and more specific treatments for diseases where cytokine function is impaired, including allergy and autoimmune diseases. To gain broad physiological understanding on how cytokines work, the study is carried out mainly in experimental rodent models (mouse). The study is mainly done at Tampere University, while certain parts of the work are done in close collaboration with the US National Institute of Health (NIH) (student exchange, scientific cooperation, method exchange).
