Fine-gRaining Audiovisual cross-Modal corrESpondences (FRAMES)

Description of the granted funding

This project investigates cross-modal correspondences (CCs), namely, associations between stimuli or features across different sensory modalities, such as sight and sound. I chose this topic to build on my previous research on audiovisual perception, aiming to better understand how our brains link sensory inputs. I will combine online psychophysical studies (WP1) with lab-based eye-tracking experiments (WP2) to gather data. The research will be conducted at the Centre of Excellence in Music, Mind, Body and Brain (University of Jyväskylä, Finland), leveraging their advanced facilities and expertise. The project will also develop an R package to help other researchers analyse similar data more easily (WP3). The ambitious goal is to create a detailed map of how different sensory features, like pitch and colour, are connected (WP4). This will help us understand the underlying mechanisms of these associations and their evolutionary significance. For further details, see https://r.jyu.fi/FOj
