Neurodevelopmental trajectories underlying cognitive development in children (TRAJECTORY)
Description of the granted funding
Child brain features the astonishing capacity to change its connections in response to mere exposure to stimulation. This property is particularly pronounced during development, and is at the core of many forms of learning, and is both a superpower and a vulnerability. In this project we will study the dynamic changes of brain development, and explore how they contribute to evolving of cognitive performance profile during mid childhood years. We will follow brain and cognitive development of same individuals over 3 years and combine methods from psychology, neuroimaging and computational modeling to achieve novel understanding of the core factors that enable buildup of brain network and cognitive competence.
