Care system shocks and their consequences on use of healthcare services among older people in Finland

Description of the granted funding

The ShoCare project investigates care system shocks and their effects on the use of healthcare services for older adults in Finland. The project aims at conceptualizing and empirically investigating four shocks and their effects on use of healthcare services: (I) Ageing in Place policy actions, (II) the health and social care reform, (III) heat waves, and (IV) Covid-19 pandemic. Literature reviews and a unique and extensive register data are employed to address the research objectives. The project will contribute insights for securing accessible healthcare for older adults in contemporary and future shocks. The project is implemented at the Tampere University.
