Epigenetic Control of Cell State Plasticity and Resistance in Prostate Cancer
Description of the granted funding
Prostate cancer is a major health and socioeconomic challenge. Although many cancer genomes have been sequenced, we still do not fully understand how genetic alterations shape the behavior of different cell types within tumors. This knowledge gap limits the development of more effective therapies. In this project, we will use advanced multimodal single-cell sequencing to analyze prostate cancer tissues at unprecedented resolution. By studying over one million cells from more than 100 patient samples, we will simultaneously measure epigenetic states and gene expression in individual cells. This will allow us to map cell type–specific gene regulatory networks and uncover how genetic changes influence cellular behavior within the tumor microenvironment. The project aims to identify novel therapeutic targets and advance precision medicine, ultimately improving outcomes, quality of life, and survival for patients with prostate cancer.
