Guiding Me, Guiding You: Deontic Dimensions of Guidance with Neurominorities (NEUROGUIDANCE)
Description of the granted funding
NEUROGUIDANCE investigates how decision-making power is negotiated in guidance interactions involving neurominorities, with a focus on autism and ADHD. The project examines real-life parental and employment guidance interactions between guidance practitioners and neurodivergent adults. NEUROGUIDANCE targets several significant research gaps: the limited understanding of decision-making power in parental and employment guidance and, overall, neurominority research. There is also a timely societal challenge of developing neurodiversity-informed guidance. Grounded in the neurodiversity paradigm and participatory and qualitative methods, NEUROGUIDANCE studies both the interactions captured in video recordings and the lived experiences of participants through video-stimulated interviews. Its goal is to advance understanding of decision-making power in guidance, reduce power asymmetries, and create inclusive, agency-enhancing, and neurodiversity-informed guidance practices.
