Abstract
Julkaisu esittelee
ikäteknologian ratkaisuja hyvinvoinnin ja terveyden, itsenäisen suoriutumisen,
asumisen, liikkumisen, kommunikaation, ravitsemuksen, palvelujen, kaupan,
robotiikan, turvallisuuden ja työelämän alueilla. Julkaisun lopussa esiteltävät
vastuullisen ja eettisen suunnittelun lähestymistavat luovat perustan onnistuneelle ikäteknologian kehitystyölle. Uskomme julkaisun tuovan uutta näkökulmaa ja mahdollisuuksia alan toimijoille.

As demographics change, being able to meet the needs of the ageing population
will become an increasingly important factor in competing on the international
market. The market for products and services that promote healthy
ageing is set to grow as the percentage of elderly people in the population
increases rapidly in the coming decades. This growth of the silver economy
has created considerable market potential for innovations and services both in
Finland and abroad. This Research Highlights publication contains a review of
VTT’s multidisciplinary research and development work in the field of ageing.
The publication showcases gerontechnology solutions relating to well-being
and health, independent living, housing, mobility, communication, nutrition,
services, retail, robotics, safety and work. The principles of responsible and
ethical design discussed at the end of the publication create a foundation for
successful gerontechnology development. With this publication, we introduce
new viewpoints and opportunities for the stakeholders in the field.
