Abstract

In the international business context, there is a powerful movement of endowments and ideas driven by entrepreneurial ventures across boundaries. However, there is a lack of research on why entrepreneurs settle in specific locations across the globe to advance their international value offers through new products and services. In this chapter, we focus on the perceptions of local entrepreneurial ecosystems from entrepreneurs’ viewpoints. We study their preferences for moving to certain localities and how they align their previous experiences and backgrounds with their entrepreneurial mindset and internationalisation decisions. Hence, we integrate multiple theoretical research perspectives and examine these in terms of opportunities and challenges in the Sydney entrepreneurial ecosystem context. The results suggest that ecosystem elements have positive and negative associations with previous experience. Mindset development and its configuration are essential for making internationalisation decisions.
