“After teaching, I just sat on the floor and gasped.” –Enhancing higher education teachers' teaching processes and well-being
Description of the granted funding
Aim of the THEwellbeing research project is to advance higher education teachers' pedagogical competence and teaching-related well-being. The participants represent both research universities and universities of applied sciences. Researchers collect multifaceted data (self-report data, physiological data and video observations) in order to explore in a novel way the underexamined relationships between teaching processes, emotions, stress, job satisfaction and burnout in higher education context. Following this, they develop an intervention to support learning-focused teaching and teacher well-being through mindfulness-based practices and guided reflection. Expected results of this study contribute to the understanding of pedagogical and psychological aspects of teaching-related well-being and provide novel longitudinal scientific evidence on higher education teachers' teaching processes and self-reported well-being during authentic teaching situations.
