A toolkit for tackling hate speech – managing the production, experiencing, and witnessing of hate speech in the digital age (TACKLEHATE)

Description of the granted funding

Hate speech is a growing societal problem that requires a variety of means to curb it. This project implements a toolkit based on the results of the HAFFECT research project. TACKLEHATE toolkit is intended to help young producers and distributors of hate speech, targets of hate speech, people who witness online hate, as well as education professionals, decision-makers and moderators. The outputs are 1) a mobile adventure game for children and young people and related educational material, 2) three web comics that provide advice on young perpetrators, targets and bystanders of hate, 3) guide material and tools to support moderation, 4) an archive website that compiles existing tools and literature for combating hate speech and 5) the SemanticQA program to help hate speech researchers, especially for big data research. The data archive published in the two-year project is a permanent resource where the project outputs are in an easily accessible format and is constantly being maintained.
