Geoportti RI - Open Geospatial Information Infrastructure for Research
Abbreviation
Geoportti
Infrastructure description
Geoportti RI - Open Geospatial Information Infrastructure for Research is a unique virtual research infrastructure (RI) enabling easy access to geospatial data served from spatial data infrastructures and geocomputing solutions for a multitude of disciplines using geospatial data. Geoportti RI brings together massive geospatial datasets, high-performance geocomputing and virtualization environments, and aids researchers struggling with poor usability of data and scarce computing resources. The RI provides seven accessible core services related to geospatial data, equipment, geocomputing, education, and community, and the integrating access point Geoportti Hub. Geoportti RI supports the innovation system in societal and business challenges that require spatial data solutions. Hundreds of geocomputing services’ users, thousands of geodata services’ users, and tens of thousands of Geoportti Hub users underlines Geoportti RI as the most important service platform for scientists in the field.
