Abstract
This chapter offers a concise overview of the vast area of language education for migrants. It starts with a critical revisiting of some key terms (e.g., forced migrant, home language), which is followed by a synthesis of research and developments in the field from a lifespan perspective, including childhood as well as adulthood. It then clarifies the importance of an intersectional pedagogical and curricular approach that accounts for the diversity of migrant language learner backgrounds and identities (including, for instance, learners with interrupted formal education) and ends with implications for moving toward more equitable language education and societies.
